太平洋战争（1941年12月8日—1945年8月15日）是第二次世界大战的一部分，主要以太平洋和周围国家为战场。由日本和美国等同盟国家交战，战争爆发自1941年的珍珠港事件开始，日本空袭美国海军太平洋基地夏威夷港，美国对日宣战后，与日本交战多年的中国也跟着宣战，纳粹德国和意大利王国也对美宣战，欧亚两大战场合一。直到1945年日本宣布无条件投降。这场战争除了日美两国大型海上战斗外，同时也导致位于欧洲轴心国集团的灭亡、日后的冷战局势、原子弹的使用、反殖民浪潮和日本与中国政治发展，对亚洲与太平洋周边国家未来发展影响甚巨。
